Team Anna Sieben

Prof. Dr. Anna Sieben, Principal Investigator

Anna Sieben is one of the PIs of CrowdING, she is also professor at the University of Wuppertal and the head of the division Pedestrian Dynamics - Social Psychology at the Institute for Advanced Simulation, Civil Safety Research (IAS-7) at Forschungszentrum Jülich. In 2016, Anna Sieben started researching crowd psychology. She successfully led two research projects in this field and established a social psychology research group in an interdisciplinary setting of physics and computer science. Accordingly, their contribution to crowd dynamics was interdisciplinary from the beginning. It started with a questionnaire study, in which the test persons had to imagine themselves in previously conducted experiments and evaluate the experiences in the crowd. Despite its simplicity, this study revealed many facets about the heterogeneity and changeability of psychological experiences and social norms in crowds which were then developed further in the following research projects (CroMa, CrowdDNA).

Dr. Carole Babelot, Project Manager

Carole Babelot joined the Forschungszentrum Jülich over 15 years ago, holding a PhD in Materials Science. Since 2021, she has been working as a science manager at the Institute for Advanced Simulation, Civil Safety Research (IAS-7). In her additional role as project manager for CrowdING, she supports the team administratively and coordinates communication between all parties involved.

Mohanad Al Ali, PhD student

Mohanad Al Ali is a social psychologist and trainee for psychotherapy. He is a PhD-Student in CrowdING at the Institute for Advanced Simulation, Forschungszentrum Jülich, and the Bergische Universität Wuppertal with an interesst in understanding transitions in crowd movements and interaction of behavioural repertoires.
